We are looking for a Senior Estimator / Head of Building Science to join our team and provide critical technical expertise in the sales process, estimation, and building envelope systems. This role will serve as the go-to technical resource for both sales and estimation teams, ensuring seamless communication of technical capabilities in building Scand value propositions to clients.
1. Sales Technical Support: Collaborate with the sales team to address technical inquiries on building envelope systems, cladding, and Mitrex materials. Provide expert guidance on product performance, integration, and application in projects. Create technical documentation and presentation materials to assist the sales team.
2. Estimation Leadership: Lead the estimation team to ensure accurate and timely project estimates. Oversee cost estimates, material takeoffs, and labor requirements for projects using Mitrex products. Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure estimates align with real-world capabilities.
3. Building Science Expertise: Advise on building envelope performance, energy efficiency, and solar integration. Ensure code compliance and optimal thermal and structural performance for Mitrex materials. Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations to optimize performance and cost.
4. Process Improvement: Streamline workflows between sales, estimation, and technical teams. Train the estimation team on best practices and building science principles. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance estimation accuracy and team productivity.
5. Client & Industry Engagement: Represent Mitrex at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings. Build strong client relationships by addressing their technical needs and showcasing Mitrex solutions. Collaborate with marketing to develop technical resources and case studies to support sales efforts.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced certifications in Building Science, Estimation, or Project Management are a plus.
1. 7+ years of experience in building envelope systems, cladding, or related fields.
2. Proven experience in estimation and cost modeling for construction projects.
3. Strong understanding of solar technologies and their integration into building systems is highly desirable.
1. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
2. Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and project management tools.
3. Knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations related to facades and solar installations.
